Snoring occurs when the air you breathe vibrates the tissues of an airway in your nose, mouth, or throat due to a blockage or narrowing. This blockage may be caused by excess tissue, large tonsils, a large tongue or the structure of the jaw itself. Snoring is the primary indicator of obstructive sleep apnea.
